ODAT, Spain

Who are ODAT?

ODAT (One Dog at a Time) was founded by four very special ladies over 25 years ago in Almeria, Spain.

Between their small group, they have collectively rescued and saved hundreds of abandoned, abused and illtreated animals in sometimes extremely dangerous circumstances.  They have no funding and use their own resources to treat and shelter the animals they have saved.

They work closely with our cousins at Paws-Patas, where one of their member’s is also a Director of the charity.

They have made it their life long mission to help the abandoned dogs and cats in Almeria, they care for the animals who are sick and injured that even an animal shelter can’t take because of the animals’ long-term needs.

They take these animals into their hearts and homes, pay for their veterinary care and look after them for life if they can’t be rehomed.

They have been ridiculed, intimidated, physically attacked and threatened but still they continue to save the animals despite their own health issues and now being in their seventies.

Please see the Nacho’s Story video which is dedicated to the work of ODAT and Nacho’s special fosterer Amparo who lovingly nursed him back to full health.
